R. O. C. FORMS ITS MPOP ASSESSMENT COMMITTEE
Because of favourable geographic location and other reasons relating to energy utilization characteristics and technology development, the R. O. C. Energy Commission conceived and promted a Multiple Product Ocean Thermal Energy Conversion project (MPOP) and prepared a development plan for this project in 1989. More recently, an assessment committee was established by the Energy Commission to review the feasibility and elements of this project. This committee will be co-chaired by Dr. Shu-Jou Lee and Dr. C. Y. Li, R. O. C. Vice Minster for Economic Affairs and Advisor to the Prime Minster respectively. The committee member will come from the government agencies, industrial firms, and research institutes. A nember of technical advisors, both domestic and foreign, will be invited to provide inputs to the committee. Its first meeting will be held in early May,1991.
